Developments: II
I knew it was Nic so I said something naughty when I answered and was greeted with silence and a stammer.
It wasn't Nic.
It was Joe.
Tamar had emergency surgery early this morning, for a blockage in the small intestine. Not good. The pain was excruciating, and he had carry her into the hospital. If it had ruptured she would have gone septic and died in a couple of hours. They had to give her morphine and demerol for the pain so they could get her out of fetal position and laying still long enough to get a CAT scan to find out what was wrong.
I tried calling her, but not only was she doped, she has no voice left. Apparently she screamed until she had no voice left, and Joe managed to get her to the hospital because he couldn't hear her say 'no' anymore when he said he was taking her there. Poor man. Tam is so stubborn, but as Gary and I discussed, she is no more or less intractable than the rest of his sister's offspring ;)
So I notified other members of the family. Flurry of phone calls, including one from our father. He wanted me to tell Tam he loves her. I don't like him, and that was the first time we've spoken in I can't remember how long, but I still didn't have the heart to tell him he's dead to her. She's been saying both of her parents are dead for years.
Cancelled plans with Chris to spend the day with him and the boys at Bullwinkles playing miniature golf and riding bumper cars. He will call on his way back, he's hoping I'll still want to spend the evening with him.
Now I'm off to plant bulbs. The sun is shining after last night's storm. Don't want to miss any more of that glorious golden goodness.

Fall bulbs. That's what I did today; planted daffodils and narcissus (for the first time--I don't care for the smell). For some reason, the nursery didn't have iris. I know that most of
the ones from last season will re-emerge. Wanted to add a few more.
Hope your sister is doing well.
