Sudden changes = good (?)
Steph is moving out April 1st. She had begun apartment hunting and I asked her when she was planning on being out, she said June 1st, because she didn't want to hear me complaining that she left me 'stuck'with the lease. I told her that she could move out as soon as she found a place, and I would prefer she do it before the lease is up, so I have time to decide what I want to do: stay (alone or with a roomie) or move (elsewhere in town, to MA, or to CA).
So yesterday she came to me and asked how I felt about her moving out April First. I wanted to cheer. Instead, I told her that would be fine. Now the sort through the stuff we have accumulated/shared since 2000 begins. Kitchen, linens, multi-media stuff, furniture. Her mom is coming down to help, as she called it, "keep the peace."
I have to start shopping for a car in earnest. I could make do with public transportation, as there are three buslines running near my place, but there are so many reasons why I have been considering getting a vehicle in addition to the need to get to work.
Speaking of work, it is merit increase time. I'm expecting 3 - 4%. Apparently my leave of absence put a kink in things with regards to the automated stuff through HR, but my boss is on it. She doesn't want to lose me, especially now, with two new people, a third position unfilled, and yet another possibility of someone transferring out, this time to Texas.
Tammy is feeling better the past few days.
Chris is being asked to transfer to Colorado Springs instead of flying back and forth so much. (Maybe they are tired of paying for first class passage. At 6'6" its the only way he can fit on a plane.) The company he works for has gotten a lot of orders for new planes and they want him there for various reasons that I won't go into here beause the blogosphere is a funny place and I don't want to put info about him out there and possibly create troubles for him. CAreer-wise it is a good move, but there is all the stuff with his siters and her boys and its only been 18 months since Matt died in Iraq and Chris is worried about the boys losing a father-figure again, so soon.
Cynthia is thinking about moving up here, taking a break from men, trying to get her life into a routine, take care of herself. If I want her as a roomie, she will happily move in, which would cover some of the sudden expenses that will be creeping up on me. We'll see.
I got my Ximeta NetDisk working on my new computer, but only as a USB drive, not installed on the LAN, because Microsoft has a SCSI driver issue with new HP/Compaq computers and the Hotfix hasn't been released yet. Now I have access to 7000 mp3s. I was worried I was going to have to rip my CDs all over again.
