Dilettante's Diary: the internal dialogue of a hedonist bluestocking.

I am a dilettante. I know quite a bit about a lot of things, but I don't know enough to be an expert on anything. I have a very sensual, hedonistic nature, but I am also a thinker, and I aim one day to be worthy of the label 'bluestocking', despite its pejorative connotations.

This is my journal, which, delightfully enough, doesn't have to go wherever I go, but is accessible from nearly everywhere I am.

Friend of my soul

Friend of my soul, family of the chosen sort -- such is Scott. He is such a seeker. He is so well-rounded, so healthy, though I doubt that he sees this in himself. Scott, who embraces light and dark and whose clear-sighted eyes see so many shades of gray. He is different from others, no doubt, and while some days he feels this difference acutely, almost as an affliction, he recognizes it is also a gift. I cherish his differences and his similiarities. I love where we are alike and where we differ. So young and yet so old. Eyes of the wise in a child's face.

It is interesting to notice where I have influenced his growth, whether directy via interaction, or inadvertantly, as in via the RP environment of the sybaritic culture of Avenir. Ah, he is such a sybarite, so experientially-focussed, so sensual in perception, and yet so mentally alert to nuances, to mystery, to the Big Unanswerables. He craves order while dipping his gourd into chaos. Such economy and grace of movement, while the mind bounces and soars and dips and ricochets. A study in contrasts and inner-conflict, now with a deep equanimity. I sent him to the river. It is where I go when I need to cross the maelstrom, and I knew it would serve him as well. After a day at my place, he radiated peace. After two, he is practically purring (or maybe that was the massage I gave him. Heh.)

He's found his center here.

Its what he came here for.

It is what he always comes here for.

And in 5 hours I put him on an airplane, destination: Japan. I feel confident that he will find what he seeks there, and more.
