Dilettante's Diary: the internal dialogue of a hedonist bluestocking.

I am a dilettante. I know quite a bit about a lot of things, but I don't know enough to be an expert on anything. I have a very sensual, hedonistic nature, but I am also a thinker, and I aim one day to be worthy of the label 'bluestocking', despite its pejorative connotations.

This is my journal, which, delightfully enough, doesn't have to go wherever I go, but is accessible from nearly everywhere I am.

Quotes that make me think

"And yet, the order of the acts has been schemed and plotted, and nothing can avert the final curtain's fall. I stand alone. All else is swamped by Pharisaism. To live life to the end is not a childish task." --Boris Pasternak

"We are not afraid to follow Truth wherever it may lead, nor to tolerate any error so long as reason is left free to combat it." -- Thomas Jefferson

"A human being is part of a whole, called by us the "Universe," a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings, as something separated from the rest--a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circles of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty." -- Albert Einstein

"Bother space and time! They spoil life by allowing such a thing as distance." - Oscar Wilde

"Say not, 'I have found the truth,' but rather, 'I have found a truth.' Say not, 'I have found the path of my soul,' but rather, 'I have met the soul walking along my path.' For the soul walks along all paths. The soul talks not upon a line, neither does it grow like a reed. The soul unfolds itself, like a lotus of countless petals." -- Kahlil Gibran.

Those were all really nice, but don't forget that Dalton from Roadhouse had a good one too. "Pain don't hurt."
