Dilettante's Diary: the internal dialogue of a hedonist bluestocking.

I am a dilettante. I know quite a bit about a lot of things, but I don't know enough to be an expert on anything. I have a very sensual, hedonistic nature, but I am also a thinker, and I aim one day to be worthy of the label 'bluestocking', despite its pejorative connotations.

This is my journal, which, delightfully enough, doesn't have to go wherever I go, but is accessible from nearly everywhere I am.

Other blogs

I enjoy reading other blogs, here are some that my inner dilettante found of interest this evening:

This evening I read a fascinating essay on Islam and Christianity titled The Agora: Christianity under Pax Islamica which can be found following this link.

Duong Thu Phong has a rather interesting and rambling posting titled On "the pot of Gold" which can be read here. I very much enjoy the free-form writing about the book "The Quest" and the mention of koans, the ephemeral nature of life, the nature of criticism, and self-analysis.

Professor Julia Sweeny is teaching a course on Eighteenth Century Enlightenment and as an experiment, created a weblog today for students to post to as a sort of communal commentary quiz. Very interesting reading. It will be interesting to see if she considers this a successful endeavor or not.

A recently re-patriated Canadian of the Christian faith, D. Maretta is on an internal journey, one not so different from my own, only D calls it 'diary of a revolution'.

This gem of a poem:
"NEVER HURT THE HEARTS THAT LOVE YOU,
NEVER GIVE THEM ENDLESS PAIN,
FOR WOUNDED HEARTS ARE LIKE WITHERED FLOWERS,
THEY WILL NEVER BLOOM AGAIN." -RUJU THAKKER.
came from reading this weblog entry.
