Portland Idol
I woke up this morning feeling hung over, but I didn't have any alcohol last night...must be the cigarette smoke. A bunch of us turned out at The Refectory to support Laura in the finals of the Portland Idol singing contest. She won the $100 for audience participation, but did not make it to the third round. A lot of people were there from work, and a lot of them got trashed. I'd never seen Chris drunk before... I hope he was sober enough to pitch that CPA firm at 7:00 this morning. Peter and Robin were there, had a great time talking to them. I learned that Peter is fond of cigars...I've been invited over to his place for scotch and a cigar...I'm just not sure if I'll take him up on that offer. He begged for a shoulder rub and I gave it, and then Allie and Tina both came by and said "me next".
It was really good to spend time with Debi and Jim last night. As always, Jim and I ended up in 'deep' topics of conversation...the cuts to the State mental health funding, inner city crime, the Supreme Court threat to the Death with Dignity law, etc. I saw Becca for the first time since January. She is looking good. She dyed her hair though. Here she is, naturally platinum blonde, and she dyes her hair red. Ah well. Cindy is back from Mexico looking fine, god, I hope when I'm 50+ I look as young as she does. Stephanie looked great and seemed to have a good time. She was out on the dance floor shaking her thang like no one else can. I really like her new haircut.
Ah well, time to stop chronicling and get dressed for work. My thought of the day is the one I had as I stepped out of the shower, thinking about Michael and hoping he's doing ok with the new job and all his relationship stresses. No expectations, no disappointments.
