Dilettante's Diary: the internal dialogue of a hedonist bluestocking.

I am a dilettante. I know quite a bit about a lot of things, but I don't know enough to be an expert on anything. I have a very sensual, hedonistic nature, but I am also a thinker, and I aim one day to be worthy of the label 'bluestocking', despite its pejorative connotations.

This is my journal, which, delightfully enough, doesn't have to go wherever I go, but is accessible from nearly everywhere I am.

Another crazy day. My supervisor and my supervisor's boss left me in charge of an office on the verge of chaos. We're half-staffed and today is my project day--which I really needed to use to catch up after being on vacation last week. It is Friday, though, thank all the powers that be. My week started in California and ended in Oregon. I'll be at a wedding Saturday, and Sunday I've laundry and chores to do. Hopefully I'll find time this weekend to finish Dana Stabenow's "Midnight Come Again".

My co-workers can't seem to stop talking about everything sensational in the news these days. There is a reason why I don't watch Television or read the Papers. I don't want to hear about mothers killing their 5-year-old daughters because they want them to go to a better place. I don't want to hear about Ward Weaver and the bodies of teenaged-girls found on his property. If I want to know, I get my facts from better sources than word-of mouth. I detest gossip. It is one of the reasons why I left the Church. I couldn't stand the Sunday fashion-parade and the hypocritical gossiping.

I think all this talk about murders and terrorism makes for a hostile work-environment. Its not sexual harassment or discrimination, but I think it counts. I wonder what my boss would say if I made a formal complaint...

My positive Thought for the Day is:
"Everything that is done in the world is done by hope." - Martin Luther
