Dilettante's Diary: the internal dialogue of a hedonist bluestocking.

I am a dilettante. I know quite a bit about a lot of things, but I don't know enough to be an expert on anything. I have a very sensual, hedonistic nature, but I am also a thinker, and I aim one day to be worthy of the label 'bluestocking', despite its pejorative connotations.

This is my journal, which, delightfully enough, doesn't have to go wherever I go, but is accessible from nearly everywhere I am.

Thus spake Kelly

"Perfect situations rarely come.
This is an imperfect world, and you and I, we are imperfect people.
All we can do is make the most of what we have."
---Thus spake Kelly to Michael

I spoke with Michael this evening. He said he's been thinking of me and wanted to apologize for not being around much the past couple of weeks. Between work and his girlfriend he's not had a lot of spare time, and he's been missing me, our comfortable closeness, and the ease with which we talk. My response to him was the words above. After I said them, I realized there was something profound about them. I wanted to write it down so that next time I feel pouty about not seeing or hearing from him for a while, I could remind myself that I am capable of wisdom as well as childishness.
